Johnson, the coach of a 7- through 9-year-old basketball team, became embroiled in an argument with referees and was ejected from the game. According to witnesses, as Johnson was leaving the floor he passed the opponent’s bench and had words with their assistant coach, Ernie Long. 43. Johnson — listed by police as being 6 feet 2 and 240 pounds — allegedly grabbed Long by the throat and slammed his head into the corner of a concrete wall. Police said Long suffered minor injuries to his head that are believed to have required stitches.
Officials say Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Tony McDaniel is out of jail after being arrested and accused of domestic violence. McDaniel was released Sunday on $3,500 bond. Authorities say the 25-year-old South Carolina native returned from a night out with friends and then got into a fight with his girlfriend early Saturday at his home in Davie, which is near Miami.
McDaniel says in a police affidavit that his girlfriend attacked him. McDaniel is in his fourth season. He played for Jacksonville for three seasons and came to Miami in 2009. He had 16 tackles and 1.5 sacks this season.

According to the arrest report, the alleged victim had "a swollen right knee and bruises on the back of her neck." She claims Sapp allowed her to sleep in his hotel room -- then came into the room early in the morning and pulled her out of bed. The alleged victim says they began arguing about guys she was hanging out with earlier Friday night.
Sapp's girlfriend told cops that during the argument Sapp "grabbed her and began to choke her." He eventually threw her out of the room, she claims. When cops spoke to Sapp, he told them he had allowed the woman to stay in his room -- but later on decided he wanted her to leave because "he was expecting company." He told police he was trying to help her and she fell.
The Arizona State lacrosse club forced underclassmen to drink a 5-gallon water cooler full of beer and a 30-pack of canned beer within 30 minutes, under threat of being tossed out of the club, says a man who claims he was hospitalized with alcohol poisoning. He says he had to drop out of ASU after "thinly veiled threats" from club members when ASU investigated the hazing.
Greyson Pendry says he also was charged with underage drinking after the hazing.
In his complaint in Maricopa County Court, Pendry says he was told that all first-year members had to attend the club's annual "Rookie Night" party, or they would be forced to quit.
At the party, Pendry says, he and other underclassmen were bound together with duct tape and upperclassmen drew "offensive phrases" such as "bitch tits" all over them. Pendry says he was forced to drink a liquid that tasted like liquor and hot sauce.
After drinking the 5 gallons and 30-pack of beer, Pendry says he was forced to strip to his underwear and put on an adult diaper. He and the other "rookies" were forced to play a drinking relay game to see which team could finish drinking a bottle of liquor first.
School officials were notified Jan. 28 of the allegations about the wrestling team through an anonymous letter and began an investigation, as has the Crystal Lake Police Department. “A number of wrestlers may have been involved in activities that included the restraining of wrestlers by other members of the team who then slap them on the stomach,” Police Chief David Linder said. “We are investigating allegations that some members of the wrestling team may have touched certain private areas of the restrained wrestlers through their clothing during the course of these activities.”Northwest Herald | D-155, CL police investigating alleged hazing
No criminal charges have been filed at this time. Police have interviewed more than 60 Prairie Ridge wrestlers, Linder said, but are unsure of how many students might have been involved in incidents, which allegedly occurred on school grounds. Police were in the process of interviewing coaches. “We do not have any facts that lead us to believe our coaches were aware of any inappropriate conduct,” Hawk said. In fact, she said, the coaches warned the wrestlers at the beginning of the season about hazing.

Kershaw County School District spokesperson Mary Anne Byrd says last Wednesday afternoon, a 15-year-old girl confided in another coach that Cassidy had touched her. Byrd says the district launched an investigation and placed him on administrative leave and relieved him from his coaching duties. Camden Police Chief Joe Floyd says the 15-year-old and Cassidy initially met online through a social networking site. Floyd said the two had been talking back and forth for about a month.
A Sam Houston State University cheerleading coach faces a slew of charges after a night out on the town. Jason Larkins, 24, was arrested Sunday morning at Shenanigans Nightclub in Huntsville. Authorities say he was escorted out of the club for buying alcohol for a minor and for being intoxicated. The T.C. Williams boys basketball program’s five-year path of perfection through the Patriot District was soiled not by the on-court performance of an opponent, but by the review of a transcript. Titan seniors Billy Rowland and Darrius Porter were deemed ineligible after a review of their transcripts revealed they were both fifth-year students. Virginia High School League rules allow an athlete four years of eligibility. T.C. Head coach Julian King first announced the findings on Monday and Director of Student Activities Bob McKeag confirmed on Tuesday. McKeag learned of a potential problem from Lake Braddock DSA Mark Martino, who contacted McKeag after receiving a tip that Rowland, the team’s leading scorer at 17 points per game, might be ineligible, McKeag said. The T.C. Williams DSA reviewed Rowland’s transcript and found he was a fifth-year student. A subsequent review of the other Titans’ transcripts revealed Porter was also a fifth-year student.
Rowland and Porter are each transfer students. Rowland attended Surrattsville High School in Maryland for two years before transferring to Bishop Ireton, a private school in Alexandria, where he repeated the 10th grade, according to King and McKeag. Rowland transferred to T.C. Williams in 2008 as a fourth-year junior. Porter transferred to T.C. Williams from North Carolina in 2007. Porter repeated the ninth grade in North Carolina, McKeag said. "Those kids slipped through the cracks," King said Monday. "The ball was just dropped. … I’m [angry] that these kids slid through the cracks and no one caught this. It’s ridiculous. I had no idea. There’s no way I would jeopardize these kids’ season for these [ineligible] kids to play."

A Warren County man, furious that his son lost a youth league wrestling match, stomped onto the mat and tackled a coach Saturday during a tournament in Belvidere, police and witnesses said. Robert Spezza, 40, of Great Meadows in Liberty Township, faces charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and disorderly conduct. Spezza allegedly knocked down Dan Shamsudin, a Parsippany Police Athletic League wrestling coach, immediately following a match between Parsippany and Hackettstown. Several witnesses said the 2 p.m. attack sparked chaos inside Belvidere High School, where wrestling matches were being held for a tri-meet involving teams from Belvidere, Parsippany and Hackettstown. Parents spilled onto the floor to pull Spezza off the 28-year-old Shamsudin, they said, and the tense atmosphere threatened to transform the attack into an all-out brawl.
According to the witnesses, Spezza also knocked over an 11-year-old Parsippany boy, Chris Gentile, a member of the Parsippany wrestling team who had been sitting out because of a broken wrist. “He just went ballistic,” Kathy Gentile, the boy’s mother, said of Spezza. “It took a while to break it up.”
Her name is Glad, but it seems like no one is happy with her at Senaca Valley High School in Germantown, MD. Jennifer Michelle Glad is accused of having sex with a 15-year-old boy and, once again, she was caught after the victim's parents found naughty text messages on the kid's cell phone. Glad now faces four counts each of sexual abuse of a minor, as well as third degree sexual offense. Investigators say the encounters between Jennifer Michelle Glad and the teenage boy took place in her car away from school property in December 2009. Glad volunteered for the Seneca Valley varsity basketball team. The boy's parents contacted school officials after they suspected the teen was having sexual relations with a volunteer, police said. The parents apparently found sexually explicit messages on the teen's cell phone from Glad.
Shortly after 2 a.m. Friday, he was booked into the Kenton County Detention Center after Covington police said Maualuga was driving under the influence. A police report said Maualuga had slurred speech and bloodshot, watery eyes, and the report showed. Maualuga had a blood-alcohol level of .157. The legal limit in Kentucky is 0.08.
The report states that the linebacker told officers that he had six "Captain and Cokes," referring to Captain Morgan rum and Coca Cola, prior to the crash. Police said Maualuga, who was also charged with careless driving, was behind the wheel of an 18-year-old woman's car at the time of the crash and wrecked into a car driven by a 17-year-old girl.
A transgender New Yorker has filed a $10 million sex assault suit against an NFL player - and in a separate action is also suing the city, saying she was abused and humiliated by cops. Angelina Mavilia's legal action against cornerback Eric Green alleges he forcibly sodomized her. The two met in a Scottsdale, Ariz., casino in early 2009 when Green still played for the Arizona Cardinals, the 38-year-old East Side woman says in papers filed in federal court in Florida, where Green was born and lives.
They went back to his condo, where Green, 27, assaulted her, she charges. He then got "extremely agitated and threatening," according to court documents, and warned: "This never happened. You'd better not tell."
