Rugby Star Admits to Stealing Golf "Buggy", Driving Down Highway to Get Munchies

Don't you just hate it when it's 5:30 in the morning, you're drunk (and an international rugby star) and get the munchies? Everything at the hotel is closed so the next logical step is to . . . steal a golf cart (or golf buggy as they're known in the UK) and head out on the highway in search of drunken morning after food. It's a great plan . . . until the cops pull you over, which isn't difficult when you're going 15 miles an hour.

Welsh rugby international Andy Powell was slapped with a driving ban yesterday for a drunken joyride on a motorway - in a golf buggy. His 5.45am antics followed a boozy session in Cardiff city centre after Wales' last-gasp victory over Scotland at the Millennium Stadium last month.

The British Lions ace got the munchies and "borrowed" the 20mph golf buggy from the four-star Vale Resort and Hotel at Miskin where his team were staying. He drove a mile-and-a-half along the hard shoulder of the M4 to the Cardiff West service station. When arrested there after failing a breath test, he told the police: "I'm an idiot, I know."
