UPDATE: If you read this story earlier, you wondered like we did why the cops would stop this vehicle that Kristina Ngum was using to give a 17-year-old boy a ride home. Now comes more information that the reason the cops stopped Ngum's SUV is that the boy was driving it, and they were "familiar" enough with the teen (what does that mean) to know he didn't have a driver's license. That lead to the vehicle being pulled over, the boy questioned and then the admission that he was sleeping with Ms. Ngum . . . and had text messages to support that claim. Now things are starting to make some sense.EARLIER: Okay, the husband of Myers Park High School (NC) gym teacher/cheerleading coach Kristina Ngum is sitting at home when the phone rings. It's the Charlotte Observer asking about his wife and her recent arrest. According to the paper, this is news to the hubby as he had been told that his wife, 43, had gone down to the police station to "give a statement" to police about an arrest the previous day.
According to the hubby his "overcaring" wife had left the high school last Friday to go pick up her own kids when a male student begged her to give him a ride and she agreed (uh oh.) Sometime there after the vehicle was stopped (for reasons unknown) and when cops did a search they found drugs on the boy and arrested him (double uh oh.)
So, of course Ngum came home and told him all about it and on Saturday went back down to the police statement to give an official statement but didn't return. He called her cell phone several times, but got no answer and had no idea about the arrest until the reporter called for a statement. According to the CO, the only statement by the unnamed husbad was “That is not my wife. She would not do that. I would say that she is too overcaring.” The boy who was arrested gave a slightly different story, claiming an off-campus sexual relationship between the two. There are several different versions of the story online, some saying that Ngum has admitted to the relationship, others only saying police ahd charged her with one count of sexual activity with a student.
Kristina Ngum, 43, turned herself in at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office Saturday after Charlotte-Mecklenburg police obtained a warrant for her arrest. In addition to teaching, Ngum is the head coach of the Myers Park varsity cheer squad, according to the school website. Police began investigating Ngum Friday, after detectives arrested the student on an unrelated drug charge, according to a CMPD news release. Detectives said they determined the alleged sexual activity happened at a location off campus.
